(Ahvenanmaa islands)
Greetings to today's visitor from little-known Åland Islands, Ahvenanmaa Islands in Finnish, which are located south of Finland near Swedish shores. Greetings, too, to the Canadian, French, Russian, Portugese, German, Greek, UK visitors who also came today and to those from Sweden, Belgium, Italy and The Netherlands who additionally came by this week. I have seen an influx of visitors from Russia and Poland lately, presumably with some degree of interest in vehicles from the former Eastern Block that were discussed later last year, as well as from China, increasingly so. They are joined by visitors from Chile, Argentina, Australia, Tunisia, Iran, Switzerland, Finland (and Brazil, Luxemburg, Ukraine, Israel, Turkey, Georgia, Viet Nam, Slovenia lately also)... I do apologize to those whom I have not been able to spot. But I have to say that I am delighted and very surprised that so many people are coming from far afield. Indeed, apparently quite a few came after conducting a search about the Triumph Stag, whose roll-bar only was backward-slanted (more interestingly, the Stag is an oft-forgotten James Bond car: read the entry about this car on Auto Universum for more information). Among all posts, the one on the Lincoln Continental Mk III, IV and V is an all-time favourite, now closely followed by the one about the Ford Consul Classic. Other popular posts include the VW Porsche 914 and 914/6, the Dauphine Conrero Spider Michelotti, the LAZ Ukrania-67, the Citroën C60 prototype, the Rolls Royce Silver Wraith Vignale and the Fiat 1100 TV coupé Ghia. But it would be a shame not to check out the other ones, as some cars are quite exotic. Ah! the grandeur of the backward-slanted rear window.
